Houston, Texas, April 28, 2024 – Week 4 of the NBL-US season returned to San Jacinto College, where fans witnessed an exhilarating triple header that showcased the resilience, skill, and competitive spirit of the league. The games were marked by stunning comebacks, intense battles, and a historic first win for one of the teams.
Game Recaps:
Eastside Netz 72 – Texas Outlaws 66
In the first game, the Eastside Netz rallied in the fourth quarter to secure a hard-fought 72-66 victory over the Texas Outlaws. Leading the comeback was Colin Plummer, who delivered an impressive performance with 21 points and 8 rebounds. The Outlaws saw the debut of Rodney Harmon and Nicholas Lance, recently acquired from the HBCU Movement. Harmon contributed 6 points and 3 rebounds in the loss. The victory keeps the Eastside Netz undefeated at 5-0, while the Outlaws drop to 2-3.
HBCU Movement 93 – Louisiana Kajun Gators 89
The second game saw a shorthanded HBCU Movement team edge out the Louisiana Kajun Gators with a 93-89 win. Despite missing key players like League MVP front-runner Kalil Potts, starting forward Kevin Lewis Jr., and 6th man Asante Belton, the Movement displayed remarkable resilience. Samson Shivers led the charge with 21 points and 4 rebounds, delivering a crucial performance in the fourth quarter. Devaughn Gano’s hot hand from beyond the arc saw him go 7 for 14, finishing with a game-high 31 points and 4 assists. The win keeps the HBCU Movement atop the league standings at 5-0, while the Kajun Gators fall to 2-3.
Woodlands Warhawks 99 – Lake Charles Aces 81
The final game of the day made history as the Woodlands Warhawks secured their first win in team history, defeating the Lake Charles Aces 99-81. Shawn Johnson led the Warhawks with a stellar performance, posting 33 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists. Joe Gray continued his impressive run for the Aces, scoring 27 points, along with 7 rebounds and 2 assists, but it wasn’t enough to avoid the loss. The victory improves the Warhawks’ record to 1-4, while the Aces remain winless at 0-5.
