Houston, TX (November 8, 2025) — The HBCU Basketball League (HBCUBL) today announced its official launch for February 2026, bringing a professional-style platform to spotlight unsigned and emerging talent connected to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The league will tip off in Houston, hosting home dates at Texas Southern University and other local gyms, with pro-level game presentation, live broadcasts, and full statistical coverage.
Player Eligibility & Roster Composition
Each 10-player roster will include: 3 players ages 16–18, 4 players ages 19–22, and 3 players ages 23 and up.
“The HBCU Basketball League is built to honor the culture and elevate the player,” said Thomas Williams Jr., President of the HBCUBL. “From the arena experience to the film, stats, and broadcast quality, everything we do will help coaches, scouts, and fans see the best version of these athletes—and help them take the next step.”
