HOUSTON, Texas – The National Basketball League–United States (NBL-US) is thrilled to announce that the 2025 NBL-US Champion Gueydan Flying Ducks will return for their highly anticipated second season, aiming to defend the crown they claimed in dramatic fashion. After completing an undefeated inaugural campaign, the Flying Ducks have cemented their place in history as the first professional basketball team from Gueydan and Vermilion Parish—and as the league’s attendance leader in its debut year.

Key Highlights from Season One

Undefeated Champions: The Flying Ducks finished the 2024–2025 season with a perfect record, capturing the NBL-US championship in their very first year.

Historic Milestones: Established on September 1, 2024, the team became Vermilion Parish’s first professional basketball franchise, igniting local pride and enthusiasm.

Attendance Leaders: The Flying Ducks set a new NBL-US record for average attendance, demonstrating the community’s unwavering support.

Quote from Thomas Williams Jr., General Manager & Co-Owner, Gueydan Flying Ducks

“Winning a championship in our very first season was a dream come true—not just for our players and staff, but for the entire Vermilion Parish community,” said Thomas Williams Jr. “Our goal for year two is to build on that momentum by deepening our roster, enhancing our training programs, and continuing to foster a culture of excellence both on and off the court. We’re committed to bringing the same level of passion, teamwork, and professionalism that got us here, and we’ll leave everything on the floor as we strive to repeat as champions.”

Quote from Commissioner Lillian Countee, NBL-US

“As someone who was born and raised in Gueydan, witnessing the Flying Ducks’ rise has been profoundly special,” commented Commissioner Lillian Countee. “Their undefeated run captured the hearts of fans across the region and put Vermilion Parish on the professional basketball map. I couldn’t be more excited to see them return for their second season. Their success embodies the community spirit and resilience that define our league, and I look forward to cheering them on as they defend their title.”

Looking Ahead to Season Two

Fall Kickoff: The Flying Ducks will open their defense campaign with a home game in Gueydan this November, marking the official start of the 2025–2026 NBL-US season.

Community Engagement: In addition to on-court action, the team will host youth basketball clinics, charity fundraisers, and fan meet-and-greet events throughout the season.

Partnership Opportunities: Local businesses and sponsors are invited to join the Flying Ducks’ journey, with sponsorship packages ranging from community-level activations to premier league partnerships.
