In a commanding performance, the Gueydan Flying Ducks outplayed the Huntsville Dawgs with a final score of 84-69. The Ducks showcased a well-rounded offensive and defensive display, capitalizing on their shooting opportunities and dominating the boards to secure the victory. Gueydan’s scoring efforts were led by Maurice Redmond, who delivered an electric performance with 25 points, shooting 8-14 from the field, including 4-8 from beyond the arc. Redmond complemented his scoring with 5 rebounds and an impressive 7 assists, contributing significantly to the Ducks’ offensive flow. His efficiency and playmaking stood out, providing a critical anchor for the team’s success. Corey Alpough was another key performer for the Ducks, contributing heavily in the paint with 22 points, hitting 11-22 from the field, and grabbing 8 rebounds. His presence was felt both offensively and defensively, recording a steal and a block. Xavier Howard also made a strong impact, scoring 20 points and securing a double-double with 10 rebounds, showcasing his versatility with 6-11 shooting from inside and 2-6 from three-point range. His contribution on the boards was vital in the Ducks’ overall dominance in rebounding. The Ducks out-rebounded the Dawgs 51-42, with Jacorey Harrell being a defensive stalwart hauling in 15 boards, alongside 3 points, 2 assists, and 3 blocks, anchoring Gueydan’s defensive efforts. Gage Marshall also added important minutes, contributing 9 points on 4-6 shooting, emphasizing Gueydan’s depth that the Dawgs struggled to match. For the Huntsville Dawgs, Jamir Mason was a bright spot, delivering an impactful performance with 19 points, although his 7 turnovers highlighted some of the challenges he faced against a swarming Ducks defense. Mason showed prominence on the boards with 11 rebounds and distributed the ball effectively with 6 assists, but it wasn’t enough to rally his team past Gueydan. Deaundre Jones also showed his offensive prowess for Huntsville with 18 points, driven by an impeccable performance from the free-throw line going 9-10. Joseph Gilliam chipped in with 15 points, with 3-12 shooting from three-point range, although his efforts were hampered by turnovers and fouls. Huntsville’s struggles were apparent with 18 turnovers compared to Gueydan’s 11, reflecting the Ducks’ ability to capitalize on Dawgs’ errors and maintain pressure. The absence of blocks from Huntsville further highlights their defensive shortcomings against Gueydan’s aggressive attack. Despite the Dawgs’ valiant efforts in patches, particularly from the free-throw line, the Ducks’ balanced and efficient team play proved too much to handle, particularly with their accurate shooting inside (28-57 for 2-pointers) and powerful rebounding presence
